…the incredibly talented Authoress, Carol J. Hedges graces me with a Guest Blog…

…witty, insightful, and outspoken in coruscating splendor, Authoress, Carol J. Hedges and I first met (not suprisngly) through the Blogosphere… and later in the company of other excellent reader and scribbly personae at a coffee gathering in a restaurant off St Pancras Station in London… once met, never forgotten… the strength of friendships created through the writers’ global family is superb, Carol is living evidence of that… enjoy what she has to say about large bookshop retailers et al…

  1. Carol was one of the first writers I ‘met’ when I started my life as a blogger. Her books are brilliant, and she has been a good friend to me.
WH Smith don’t know they’re born if they won’t stock her books!

  2. So true. I’m in a cooperative with other Spanish writers in Spain and we are looking at distributing books to physical bookshops, and their conditions are so stringent that they are near impossible to meet (and making any money… well, a miracle).

  4. As soon as you mention the words ‘self-published’ all the suppliers back off in horror! Which is why all bookshops have exactly the same stock.

  5. Behind the times, which is sad when their prospective customers are so far ahead of them in terms of what they want…

  6. Hello, Carol. It is certainly WH Smith’s loss and not yours. Good post. Thanks, Suemas, for having Carol as you guest. 🙂 — Suzanne
