True Lies ‘N Author Stuff

...SEUMAS GALLACHER escaped from the world of finance ten years ago, after a career spanning three continents and five decades.

As the self-professed ‘oldest computer Jurassic on the planet’ his headlong immersion into the dizzy world of eBook publishing opened his eyes, mind, and pleasure to the joys of self-publishing. As a former businessman, he rapidly understood the concept of a writer’s need to ‘build the platform’, and from a standing start began to develop a social networking outreach, which now tops 35,000 direct contacts.

His first two crime-thrillers, THE VIOLIN MAN’S LEGACY and VENGEANCE WEARS BLACK blew his mind with more than 75,000 e-link downloads/sales to date. The third in what has become the ‘Jack Calder’ series, SAVAGE PAYBACK, was launched late 2013. This was followed by KILLER CITY and DEADLY IMPASSE. Number#6, NO IMPUNITY is the current Jack Calder work-in-progress.

He started a humorous, informative, self-publishers blog five years ago, never having heard of a ‘blog’ prior to that, was voted ‘Blogger of the Year 2013’ and now has a loyal blog following on his networks. He says the novels contain his ‘Author’s Voice’, while the blog carries his ‘Author’s Brand’. And he’s LUVVIN IT!

Of late, during 2017-2018, he was pleased to have been commissioned to ghostwrite three different autobiographies, and also completed a collection of his ‘blurt-it-out’ style of poetry, A FEW POETRY STOPS IN A LIFE’S JOURNEY. Also added a couple of years ago, is a small guide to social network usage for self-publishers, SELF-PUBLISHING STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL SALES. Another addition to the portfolio is the venture into AudioBooks with his first title, THE VIOLIN MAN’S LEGACY.

Seumas – I finally completed my onpass of the Blogger Award. That was hard work to do properly. But very rewarding – hopefully I’ve let people know about blogs that are not so mainstream.

Haven’t had the pleasure of reading your work yet, but that might be in the near future, If I can ever get through the enormous to read list. (Which I will, because summer is coming and that means, reading in the sun!)

    • Thanks , Lucy… my work is in a couple of genres ( fancy word that, eh?..).. the first two efforts are crime thrillers , which have amazed me with over 60,000 downloads now, and the one that I have on FREE PROMO on amazon right now is the (supposedly) humorous blog posts collection, THE BLOGGER’S GUIDE TO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING … hope you enjoy.. grab the freebie ! Cheers, m”lady :):)

    • … i know that TBR feeling… I’ve got at least 60 in the Kindle pipeline… I try to download at least one book a week from new Indie self-publishing authors… my small way of trying to ‘give something back’, but more importantly , after I read, i post a review, which is gold dust for authors, as you may know . :):)

      • True, so true! Too bad that sometimes people, even other indies, forget about that. I always download the freebees and read a taste. If I like what I read I wait until the free days are over and buy a copy. But I only post a review if it’s at least 3-star worthy. If not I message the author and tell them what I think is ‘wrong’. Often it’s SPaG which hurts my brain if it’s riddled with it. Or run-ons, other than that, I leave a review, but I’ve got so little time to read and sooooo many books in the ereader. 😦

  18. Hello Seumas, Just finished reading your second novel ‘Vengeance Wears Black’, last week. Really enjoyed it. I Was hoping to make your big gig at the Dubai Festival this Thursday – unfortunately you’re up the same time as the Awards slot; which I’m destined to win – I wish!!!
I have a 5 minute pitch with Luigi Bonomi then on Friday evening.
Just wondering if you’ve planned any other informal talks as I’d love to get your take on the self-publishing route.
Re your writing – please don’t stop till you drop.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  21. Hi Seamus,
A big thank you for yesterday evening, taking time out from a busy schedule to share some of your insights into writing and the self-publishing business with me one to one. I won’t be too quick on selling those signed copies on eBay either – a year or two at least in the glass cabinet beside my signed Peter Ustinov and an early Spiderman edition!
Bon chance today with your gig at the Dubai Literary Festival. Wish I could make it.
To the great and the good out there, this man is a true gent!!
    Cheers ‘n’ beers

  22. Had to read more about you, especially since it seems – ! – that you are Irish. Don’t know anyone non-Irish with the name of Seamus. Congratulations on the great success of your books – please send some my way?

    • …hi, m’Lady, Noelle… forgive the late response.. my ‘SEUMAS’ spelling is the Scottish Gaelic version, and derives fromthe same as the Irish, equivalent for ‘JAMES’, which is what’s actually on my British passport… I lived in my late teens in the Scottish Hebridean island of Mull, learned gaelic there, and started competing, singing, in the language, and was astonishingly successful with it… hence the ‘JAMES’ lapsed into ‘SEUMAS’, and it has stuck ever since!… my books are currently on Amazon Kindle, but the SAVAGE PAYBACK title will be re-launched via my new publishing partners, Crooked Cat Publishing, on February 10th..

      cheeers … have a glorious 2015:)

      • So so sorry for misspelling your name and accusing you of being Irish. I have a Scottish friend with whom I also made that mistake – not good! Maybe because I only recently discovered I was Irish? Is Gaelic a common language for Scotland and Ireland and is it hard to learn?
My new book is coming out at almost the same time as yours. Would you like me to review your book on my blog? I review for Rosie Amber and also occasionally on my blog, and can post the review on Amazon, Goodreads and Amazon UK.. In the meantime, I need a good read for the new year, and will download another. Thanks for your patience with my ignorance. Happy New Year!
PS Is your named pronounce the same as Seamus?

    • …no worries, m’Lady… we are half-Irish from a few generations agoi, hence even the surname is the Scottish version of ‘Gallagher’… Gaelic IS a difficult language to master… I speak a few lingos, including Chinese and Arabic to an extent, but Gaelic remains one of the tougher ones, partly because it’s a dying language now with only around 80,000 speakers worldwide, the majority of whom are actually in Nova Scotia in Canada … the irish and Scots can communicate marginally with the basic ‘ERSE’ language which is the root of gaelic, but not so easily… my book will be a re-launch of a title already seen on Amazon , SAVAGE PAYBACK (off now until Crooked Cat Publishing stick it back out there)… the first two titles are still on Amazon…. if you’d like, I can send you my Kindle Word version, which you may be able to download to a Kindle ( I really don’t know that for sure , as i truly am a computer Jurassic! the name is pronounced SHAY-MAS 🙂 cheers 🙂

      • Thanks for the explanation. I am a sort of linguist – pick up languages rather easily but just as easily forget them. Was once pretty fluent in Czech, which I thought the hardest language I’d ever tried, but I’ve forgotten most of it. It was great when I lived in Prague though – I even dreamed in Czech. Have already downloaded one of your books (Vengeance Wears Black) but you are kind to offer. Will add my review to Amazon when I finish!

P.S.. I’m English. My wife is from Kilmarnock. We live in Scotland. The SAS have been trying to get me out for years but they keep getting beaten back at the border.
